Court to Resume In-Person Oral Arguments

The Ohio First District Court of Appeals will resume in-person oral arguments beginning on Monday, March 7, 2022.
For more than a year, the First District has conducted oral argument hearings remotely using the Zoom video conferencing platform due to restrictions connected to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the number of COVID infections declining, the Court has decided to resume in-person hearings.
The following health and safety protocols will be implemented:
  • Face masks may be worn, but are not required to be worn in the Courtroom or in the waiting area outside of the Courtroom.
  • To minimize number of people in the courtroom, once a case concludes, the attorneys/parties are asked to leave the courtroom.
  • Sanitizer and hand wipes will be made available during attorney check-in and in the courtroom.
The use of remote oral arguments will still be allowed upon request in certain circumstances. See Loc.R. 21(E) for more information.
For health and safety protocols for the Taft Law Center Building please refer to the Administrative Order found here.
Until March 7, 2022, the Court will continue to conduct remote oral arguments via Zoom and continue to stream the arguments live on its YouTube channel.
