Off-Site Oral Arguments Held at Walnut Hills High School

In early November, off-site oral arguments for the First District Court of Appeals were held in the gymnasium of Walnut Hills High School. Junior and Senior students had the opportunity to observe arguments in two criminal cases and one civil case before a panel of three judges consisting of Presiding Judge Ginger Bock, Judge Candace Crouse, and Judge Robert Winkler. At the conclusion of oral arguments, the students also had the opportunity to ask the judges questions about the appellate process, the judges’ experiences as former attorneys, and their journeys to the bench.

Off-site oral arguments are a part of the Court’s civic outreach efforts to bring the courtroom to the community. The events are typically held twice a year at local high schools and universities. Those interested in hosting the Court for off-site oral arguments should contact the Court by emailing coa@firstdistrictcoa.org.
