Judge Zayas Partners with Cincinnati Public Schools to Educate Young Women about Careers in Law

Cincinnati Public Schools’ Girls to Women (G2W) Leadership Collaborative is a program which is designed to provide equitable access for female students to leadership development opportunities. Judge Zayas is partnering with G2W for the 2023-2024 school year to design a “Girls in Law” program that will be added as a pillar to the G2W program.

Withrow University High School junior and G2W student, Sanaa May will co-design the “Girls in Law” under the direction of Judge Zayas and Shelly Conrad, Cincinnati Public Schools Girls to Women (G2W) District Coordinator and Student Engagement Specialist. The new “Girls in Law” program aims to spark an interest among young women to learn more about the legal system and possibly pursue a career in law.

“It’s really important to make sure every child is able to dream big, for them to be able to meet people of different backgrounds – mine being growing up in a very difficult neighborhood – and to see that these kinds of careers are not just for special people. They’re for everyone,” Judge Zayas said.

On May 22, 2023, Judge Zayas, Shelly Conrad, and Sanaa May met in the First District’s Courtroom to begin the student-designed program. To read more about their visit, click here.
